Morning, mamas! Got any little Moana fans out there? Birthday girl Emmie is a huge fan, so Karina at Perfectly Petite Parties gave this pool party a modern Moana twist with tropical details and vibrant colors. Even better, it’s full of simple DIY elements and lots of local mom vendors contributed to the festivities. Thanks to Five Whimsy Lane for the photos!

Super adorable, tropical cake from Paper Street Cakes. They also had macarons from Honey & Butter, Pacific Organic Pops, and the catering by Francesca Manfredi featured a little something for everyone, whether vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, gluten-free, etc.

They built the backdrops for the drinks & desserts tables and the kids table. Impressive!

And all the floral arrangements for the tables and backdrops were DIY by Perfectly Petite Parties!

Pro tip for all you party planning mamas: Create a Pinterest board with ideas, starting with a focal point to build off of for style: For this party, I chose Emmie’s bathing suit as that focal point. I used the colors of her bathing suit and patterns to use throughout the party. I sprayed painted the palms for the backdrops in the colors of the bathing suit. The cake flowers, felt floral crowns, and the balloon garlands were all the same color family as the bathing suit as well.

Designing a kids party around a character they’re obsessing over is always a fun challenge in our books—how to make it fun and silly and something that hasn’t been done a zillion times over? This Moana themed pool party from Beijos Events and Corrie Lynn Photo makes it happen with lots of little nods to Moana throughout, plus the prettiest tropical florals and desserts that are sure to inspire any party you throw in the summer!

Even if you don’t have a kids birthday party on the sched, a pretty cake and arrangement like this sure would be sweet for a baby shower or any brunchy affair.

Happy Monday, all! What better way to kick off another hot July week than with a bright and festive poolside bash for a little lady named Magnolia? This Two-ti Frutti 2^nd birthday that Jacqui of Deets & Things and L & B Photography sent our way is filled to the brim with enough DIY project to last all you party planners the rest of the season. Not to mention they’re all the cutest!

Jacqui whipped up the summery napkins with a floral fabric and made mini watermelon piñatas favors that she filled with fruit snacks. Major props on those cuties!

Can you spot the festive pineapple nails?

Then there’s this super fun DIY ‘bling bar’ for the littles to grab tropical temporary tats. Such a good alternative to face painting for kiddos that will be in and out of the pool all afternoon.

Even these chairs were revamped with new fabric for the occasion!

And the grownups in attendance sipped on sangria and piña coladas jazzed up with DIY fruity umbrellas.

Pretty much how we feel about cake, too, Maggie.

Happy Thursday, mamas! This daily dose of fun is brought to you by photog + stylist Ally Burnette, who whipped up this modern tropical baby shower with the mama-to-be’s sister Katie at Wayfare in Orange County. The goal was to marry tropical vibes with a pretty garden party feel.

Garden flowers and tropical foliage from Fleur-ish, check!

Ally says, The rich greens of the tropical leaves acted as a table runner, which made a stark contrast against the clean and bright white of the tables. The drama of an untamed jungle was in full effect. However, the femininity of the pretty garden flowers of differing shades of pink and peach contained this jungle and brought a lovely balance to the party.

They had yummy butter + salt and huckleberry donuts from the ever-delish Sidecar Doughnuts & Coffee. SoCal friends, have you tried them yet? Meat and Vegetable Trading Co. also cooked up brown sugar pop tarts, jalapeno bacon deviled eggs, cheese and grape platters, tea sandwiches, and Swedish meatball skewers… Yum!
