Black and white rustic 3rd birthday

black and white 3rd birthday

Morning, mamas! We love the idea of adding a simple black + white palette to a rustic affair. It’s like a little bit of modern brought to the great outdoors. Not to mention so perfect for a little man named Wolf who was used to celebrating birthdays past in Joshua Tree and Big Sur. For birthday #3, he was ready for a party, this time in Napa Valley with friends and fam. The day was documented by Audrey Spear Photography with design, blooms, and rentals by Tulips & Toadstools.

Aren’t these twig pencils from World Market cute?

They were all about making sure the design of the party evolved organically, rather than going with a traditional theme.

Wolf’s mama made these sweet leather animal masks for all the kiddos to run around and play hide and seek in.

If this wild and free theme is coming off as totally authentic to you, it’s prob because this fam has roamed all over Northern California together. Before little W came along, mom and dad had traveled the world together, too.

A few more details about the day… A sweets table set in the woods had delicious homemade animal topped cupcakes and a simple black and white cake, both made by a friend of the family. Tulips & Toadstools created the moss “Wolf” sign and helped design fun personalized details for the event—anyone with toddlers can appreciate the fun “drink, spill, repeat” straws. A custom backdrop was built to showcase the moss name sign for the birthday boy. Foraged evergreens and floral arrangements of simple white flowers and feathers in amber bud vases kept things playful but polished. Black and white tribal inspired prints brought in a bit of a bohemian vibe.
