Morming, mamas! How did Mother’s Day get so close already? There’s never enough time, which is why we so appreciate all the simple DIY projects and major teamwork that went into this You Are My Sunshine themed Mother’s Day brunch coming to us from Nakia of A Handcrafted Affair, Lindsay of Southern Sky Design and Stacy Able Photography. It all added up to a cheerful party with mid-century modern details and natural textures that everyone could enjoy. Perfect for a mama-kiddo date with all your pals this Sunday and beyond!

Individual bouquets as favors, yes please. They used tissue paper to wrap the blooms and tied them with leather pieces.

Nakia made the text with mini strips of yellow fabric knotted around formed wire words while Lindsay added Italian Ruscus + Plumosa around the wall hanging to resemble vines around the sun.

Can’t go wrong with a menu of avocado toast, smoked salmon, veggie quiche, homemade waffles, and mini parfaits, right? Personal chef Sarah Showalter had a few tips, too: 1) go for quiche because it can be made ahead of time, 2) add garnishes and fresh herbs to make a dish your own, 3) kids can help make parfaits (use a plastic bag as a piping bag and scoop the yogurt in so you can squeeze it into the dishes)

Other easy DIYs? Tori of NoTORIous whipped up kiddie straws for the Shirley Temples along with beverage tags, and mimosa bar labels.

And the napkins? They’re of the kid-friendly DIY variety: thumbprints in a springy color palette.
