We sure love simple, thoughtful baby showers ‘round these parts, especially when we’ve had the chance to share the maternity sesh beforehand, like we did with Jody of My Baby Olive Juice’s intimate maternity shoot with Sadaf Murad Photography. For the shower, Jody chose Shibori indigo as the color to celebrate her forthcoming little man, and her gal Melissa Tsai was behind lots of blue-hued DIYs for the day.

Everything was brought together by different friends of Jody, with her behind the invites (of course) letterpress printing by Britt of Swellpress Paper Co, hand-dyed lanterns, tablecloths, and cushions from Melissa, and the cake from Sheila Wu. And Sadaf Murad behind the lens!

Jody’s story…
I hang out with the best bunch of friends—who almost all have sons, exclusively. I’m the only one in our group who doesn’t know what it’s like to have a little boy! So when these ladies found out that my 2^nd child was going to be a little boy, they were ecstatic and so happy to throw me a baby shower.

Since I’m a calligrapher by trade, I wanted to take this opportunity to design my own invites.  I was really inspired by Shibori fabrics that I had been seeing around lately, and what a perfect color for a little boy shower… My friends really took the Shibori theme to the next level—putting together the most incredible baby shower for my family. It was such an amazing, relaxing day, spent with close friends and family. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
