Happy Friday mamas! It’s fall! Can you believe it? Don’t know about you but we’re so ready for the change in seasons. Of course here in LA we’ve got another few weeks of summer ahead of us, but that doesn’t mean we’re not excited for seasonal activities with our little ones. WHICH speaking of… our dear friend Lauren of Walnut Animal Society (love her heirloom quality animals sooooo much!) just released the first in a series of children’s books, starring the very animals that she’s created.

AND more importantly for LA families, she’s hosting a little book launch party and reading at Urbanic Paper Boutique in Venice tomorrow! We’d love to see you there if you’re in the neighborhood! Happy Monday friends! This photo essay of treasures our friend, photographer Melissa Kaseman, found in her son’s pockets after preschool totally brightened our morning. It’s such a unique way to catalog this time in a child’s life, which is always, always full of surprises. See some of our faves from the series…

Wouldn’t this be a neat way to preserve some of the treasures your little collects when playing and exploring? You never know what you’ll end up with.

It’s like keeping all their well-loved finds right at home.

The project has won 2^nd in the Editors Choice awards through the CENTER, and Melissa will be showing the work during Review Santa Fe in an exhibition with the other award winners. She’ll also share the work at the Review SF with curators, editors, and publishers. Congrats, M! Thanks for sharing this with us!

DIY girl’s playhouse from Amber Events

Awe, playhouses. Did you have one growing up? Complete with a tiny fridge, stove, shutters, and curtains? We thought it would be fun to end the week with this adorable little playhouse Amber Events and her husband built their Luella (Lulu) Rosea. They took a kitchen set they’d purchased from KidKraft and built the house around it, using mostly reclaimed materials. Fun, right?

Lulu’s grandma Barbara made the curtains with matching apron.

Handmade wooden toys from The Wooden Horse

We come across a lot of rad kid’s shops while surfing the webs, and while we could (and do) pin everything to Pinterest, sometimes the items in these shops warrant a full post. Enter Etsy shop, The Wooden Horse.
