Morning, mamas! Betcha haven’t seen a christening party inspired by the art of Frida Kahlo. Thought so! It’s one of the most unique events Fresh Events has ever dreamt up, and we’ve got all the photos by Antonis Georgiadis to prove it. Mexican party ideas for daysssss.

Did we mention that this chirstening comes to us all the way from Cyprus? The team decked out the bar at Patio Cocktail Bar in Nicosia.

Maybe it’s because we’re here in LA, but we never ever tire of seeing parties adorned in colorful papel picado.

So many of the décor pieces throughout were handmade and painted, all with those vibrant Frida-inspired hues.

Morning, mamas! There’s nothing like a cutie fiesta 1^st birthday to kick our Mondays off right. Just so much cactus and rainbow goodness in this sweet party Dawn of Something Vintage Rentals hosted for her little dolly June at their new warehouse space, The Vault. On the design… For décor, we wanted to do something cheery and bright, so we centered the celebration around Mexican pom poms and cacti because that spells fun and June LOVES Mexican food, especially rice and black beans! As you can see, we put the pom poms everywhere to bring in the fiesta. For cacti that were baby-friendly, we worked with Hook & Yarn Designs to make crocheted cacti as favors for our guests. Desert 2 District created a cacti backdrop with her own handmade stamps. For the lounge furniture, we selected midcentury modern bright pieces for June to play on along with her own mini rattan chair.

These cookies from BellyWell Sweets are making our days, right here. So perfect!

And what a gorgeous cake from Fluffy Thoughts Cake.

For food, Eat & Smile Catering made a stylish Mexican feast in small bites fit for June and her tribe. Watermelon salad, chicken mini tacos, pulled pork tostadas, and heirloom tomatoes. Yum! For sweets, Belly Well Sweet made adorable fiesta cookies—cacti, llamas, piñatas and brightly colored 1s! Fluffy Thoughts Cake made the most festive bright cake and Junie just dug right in!

Almost don’t want to see this beauty go…

Happy Monday, and happy almost May! Anyone out there planning a kid-friendly Cinco de Mayo as part of this upcoming weekend’s festivities? Carolina of Mint Event Design in Austin whipped up this springy fête inspired by a twist on traditional Mexican colors. Peep the images by Candi Noble to see how she pulled it off!

Carolina enlisted local balloon artist Nate The Great to create a fun Saguro out of balloons.

Ana of J Balloon Fiesta not only created the papel picado decor in their color palette, but these little mason jar labels for the drinks too.

Carolina hooked up with Fete Gazette on these cute DIY cactus cupcake toppers. More details here.

Mamas, how about a little Monday pick-me-up in the form of a super colorful and festive llama-inspired birthday? Mom and event designer Francesca of 50by50 Event Design combined the birthday girl’s love of llamas with her Mexican roots and love of art, and voila, a Frida-llama-fiesta was born. Oh how we love creative themes! Thanks to Hazelnut Photography for capturing the deets!

Fun sign for the art table, yes? Each kiddo had a customized art box with their very own apron to keep their clothes clean. They painted terracotta pots and river stones to look like cacti, and had wooden llamas to decorate.

Francesca says, I started with the traditional Peruvian pom-pom and tassel llama theme and decided to replicate a piece of Frida’s art by replacing her with the Frida llama. From there everything fell into place. I handmade over 200 paper cactus to have the feel of the exterior of Frida’s home. We made hundreds of pom-poms and tassels to really make the space festive. I hand painted every terracotta pot and charger plate with Aztec and Peruvian symbols.

Cute llamas, check.

Wouldn’t this theme be spectacular for just about any summer party? Maybe even a baby shower, too?

They went with lavender for the dessert wall since Frida used color so much in her personal journal. And did we mention the cake…?!

To top it all off, they had a Peruvian taco truck, a petting zoo, photo booth, and face painting. AMAZING work, Francesca!
