How would we all feel about one final cookie decorating party before we turn in for the winter? This one is particularly lovely in it’s modern styling (by the talented Anthony Diaz of Anthony & Stork), and we’re kind of wishing we were hosting one of these this afternoon with our kiddos. Instead we’ll be running around like crazy people wrapping and cooking and doing all the things that moms do in the last few days before the big man arrives.

Tiled fireplace is definitely on the must-have list! Wonder if Santa would take a last minute addition?

Monster Movie Night for kids with Whole Foods Market Berkeley

Halloween! It’s getting really close, mamas. We’ve found that while trick or treating is certainly a thrill for young kids, dressing up in costumes and hanging out with their friends in a festive, familiar space can be just as fun. But if you’re up to your neck in costume-making, it’s hard to find time for party planning too. Our friend Lisa planned this inspired Monster Movie Night party along with the talented catering crew from Whole Foods Market Berkeley and we have to say, it looks like a pretty perfect way to spend Halloween.

Did you know that most of the chefs at Whole Foods are literally DYING for an opportunity to make something out of the ordinary? They’re all super talented and love whimsical catering challenges. Plus you know that whatever they make is going to be healthy and wholesome for your kiddos. You have to see what they came up with for this spooky feast.

Watermelon brain, anyone?! And those creepy hands coming out of the hummus and veg platter are kind of amazing.

Bonus, you can pick up flowers (complete with cheesecloth ghosts!) from their floral department. One stop shopping wins every time.

Lisa picked up paper goodies from the Oh Happy Day Party Shop. Such a great resource for party planning!

Pumpkin eyeball FTW!

The Whole Foods bulk aisle is a great resource for sweets that aren’t *too* sweet. Pack them up in little bags like these so kids can experience the joy of unwrapping. What IS is about packaging that they find so fascinating?

Lisa set up a perfect spot for movie watching with a low table in front so each child could eat their dinner or draw during the show.

Obsessed with this “guest” that Lisa made to keep the kids company!

Mkay, this might be our favorite part of the catering menu at Whole Foods Berkeley, and it’s perfect for ANY party coming your way. If your child draws a picture, their pastry chefs will recreate it on a cake! (Artwork by Lucas, Lisa’s son.)

Banana ghosts!

The most amazing, inspired Halloween party food, ever! And such a fun way for kids to celebrate the holiday. Thanks for planning such a cute party, Lisa. And for the insane food, Whole Foods Berkeley!

Summer snack ideas for kids with Munchkin + a giveaway

With summer literally knocking at our door (YAY!) we can’t help but think ahead of long, warm days outside and all of the seasonal food that goes along with this best time of year. We teamed up with Munchkin to come up with three yummy snacks your kiddos will be excited to eat in the months to come. Their clever catalog of colorful products makes meal time and snack time a festive event for everyone. Even when kale is involved. *wink*

Tropical kale popsicles! These baby food freezers make the perfect size pop for the little ones among us. And they’re easy to hold for tiny hands. We blended pineapple, banana, kale, greek yogurt, a few squeezes of lime, and a bit of coconut milk to come up with these green smoothie popsicles that our kids scarfed down.

Summer fruit is even more enticing when it’s shaped like a friendly animal and served on a stick. These sandwich cutters worked perfectly for slices of fruit served on a bright plate.

Sure these bananas are dipped in chocolate, but a little treat never hurt anyone! And as well all know, anything frozen on a stick is enticing to little tummies. We covered our version in sprinkles because, um, what child doesn’t love sprinkles? Served on reusable colored spoons, you won’t have to buy popsicle sticks for the rest of summer.

Pumpkin pancakes for Halloween

Have you ever made pumpkin pancakes? They were a first for us this week and, big surprise, they are delicious! We had to share this simple recipe for a yummy fall treat as we all prepare for a big day tomorrow.

You can easily whip these up tomorrow morning for a fun treat to start off Halloween. Total time was about 10 minutes of prep and then the time it takes to cook your ‘cakes. Try them! Guaranteed this recipe is going to become an annual tradition.

End of Summer Ice Cream Party

Tomorrow’s the official first day of fall you guys! Saying goodbye to summer is bittersweet, but these little ladies + gents did it in the most perfect way, with a homemade ice cream party. Goldfinch Events & Design kept the decor simple, decorating with a few confetti-filled giant balloons, tissue paper tassel garlands, and oversized tissue ice cream cones. And then there was the ice cream…

They used a roll of black chalkboard paper as the table runner so they could write the flavors of ice cream with chalkboard pens and left a few scattered on the table so the partygoers go draw on at the end of the party.

Enjoying the fruits of their labor.

Bye, bye summer!
