Morning, mamas! Who has a 1st birthday on the horizon? This ridiculously charming modern circus party theme comes to us from Stephanie of This Modern Romance and Laurel Events LA, as inspired by M. Sasek’s “This Is…” children’s book series, little I’s fave story. These adorable invites by Berlin artist Vera Esef set the stage…

Thus, “This is one” was born.

And tons of sweet elements using their classic circus color palette were scattered throughout.

Archive Rentals just so happened to have chairs in the perfect colors to go with the hues in the book.

Naturally there was a popcorn station.

Amy Cakes and Sweet Treats designed a gorgeous custom cake inspired by the graphics in their paper suite.

We have a hunch it will be a loooong time before something comes along that matches the excitement of the Museum of Ice Cream (remember this MOIC-inspired party from last year?), especially when it comes to inspiring cute milestone birthdays, like Annie Banannie’s first. Plus, yellow + pink has gotta be one of the most cheerful color palettes there is, don’t you think? Thanks to Cyd Weeks Photography and mama Aracely of Minted and Vintage for sharing!

This fun lil’ highchair tassel comes from Paper Fox LA.

Dessert guru Sweetlee Made created lots of fun Museum of Ice Cream inspired desserts for Annie’s party.

For the DIY backdrop, Aracely used tape to create a grid reminiscent of the tile walls at the sprinkle pool. She also turned the mylar balloons for the sign the perfect shade of pink with spray paint and added all the banana embellishments.

Then there is this fun little sign outlining all the highlights of Annie’s 1st year!

Morning, mamas! If you follow along with us at 100 Layer Cake, you know that we’re celebrating cherry blossom season on both blogs today. Such a happy time! This Aussie fam, with mama Grace of Milk and Honey Cake Creative, loves to travel to Japan, so they decided to share their fave parts of Japanese culture with their bebe Noa (which is Japanese for “my love”) for her first birthday. Cue allll the cherry blossoms, in the photos by Kaitlin Maree Photography, below…

Mama grace of Milk and Honey Cake Creative is a talented cake designer, so naturally she was behind this Japanese-inspired beauty.

The setup included a custom made dessert display, inspired by angular Japanese design, a low laying table setting which is a play on the traditional chabudai; where Japanese families typically gather to eat meals on the floor, we also had a Japanese soda cart, cherry blossom trees, an inspired grazing table, paper cranes, Kimidolls, hanging parasols, and many other nods to Japanese culture and design.

Looks like baby Noa loves the blooms, too.
