Neutral baby shower + $2,000 giveaway with Hanna Andersson

Hiya, mamas! Anyone here have a baby shower on the books? Considering our forever love of earth tones and gender neutral showers, it only made sense to share a few pointers for pulling off such a sweet, thoughtful design yourself. ‘Cause why not make your own (or a dear friend’s) baby shower just as special? We partnered up with our friends at Hanna Andersson to bring our concept to life with a few darling pieces like the felt mobile above, as you’ll see below.

Oh, and you miiiight be wondering about that whole giveaway situation, huh? Hanna Andersson is generously offering up the chance for one lucky Cakelet reader to plan the perfect baby shower, in the form of a $2,000 American Express gift card. Eeeee! So, yeah, get scrolling already!

One of the first things we did when styling this neutral baby shower was decide how to incorporate Hanna Andersson’s Cloud, Moon & Star Mobile in a big way. We love the idea of using pieces in the decor that mama can take home after the shower to use in the nursery. It’s a fun little gift idea that makes for such a nice reminder of baby’s very first celebration every time she walks into the space.

Plus, the wool clouds, moon, and stars just look so cute over a pretty table!

Naturally we made use of our very own paper table runner for the ‘scape. And some of the supplies for our DIY wood teether, below.

Even if you’re not planning a super over the top baby shower, a beautiful calligraphed sign with some of mama-to-be’s fave words or wishes is a must. This beauty from Owl Post Calligraphy was super adorable for a gender-neutral shower. Big fans of any nursery rhyme all fancied up with pretty lettering, though!

Kristina cut those eucalyptus pieces for the wall and clothesline from her backyard for the shower. If there’s ever a time for some sweet DIY touches, it’s gotta be a baby shower.

Speaking of DIY. We also placed our main baby shower activity on the dessert bar. It’s a DIY teether/pacifier clip project with wooden rings and beads inspired by the DIY project Tart Event Co. shared in the gender-neutral baby shower we featured awhile back. Really cute idea that you can easily whip up with the supplies we linked to at the bottom of the post. The Tart Event crew suggested using this handy video if you’d like to tie them off with a square knot.

Nothing like treats from Sweet & Saucy Shop to get guests mingling at the activity table!

One of our fave details has to be all the neutral baby goodies displayed on the clothesline above the gift area. Hanna Andersson’s Ribbed Baby Socks 2-Pack, One Piece in Organic Cotton, & Kimono Top in Organic Cotton are just a few of our faves for pulling off this look. A super affordable way to take the decor up a notch, especially in a little nook that you want to make particularly photo-friendly. And once again, she’ll be able to take and put the clothing to use long after the day’s festivities are done.

A shared boys closet with Container Store

Hello, hello! Recognize this trio? If you follow the wedding blog, you may have seen that Jillian recently hooked up with The Container Store to revamp the closets in her + Scott’s new abode. It’s their first foray into home ownership, so they wanted to spend the time to make each room their own. You can check out their his + her closet makeover, and tomorrow she’s sharing her home office. But today, we thought those of you with littles might like a peek into their shared boys closet revamp. Take it away, Jillian…

Sharing a master closet with Scott is one thing, but fitting two boys’ (of different ages) toys, books and clothes into one space is tricky. You might shy away from open shelving, but after working with the Container Store’s design team on incorporating their elfa designs, we were sold. Somehow everything fit together perfectly, combining a closet, toy storage, and even bookshelves.

As you might remember, we’re no stranger to sharing spaces. It helps that Liam is somewhat obsessed with keeping things organized himself (no complaints there), so he actually loves the open shelving. Especially when it comes to his book collection.

Hi, little dolly! My Motherhood Story is a session with Victoria Gloria that’s all about capturing your story in its truest light. She blends into your world with photography and interview that she then compiles into a one of a kind book.

It’s kind of like a day in your life as a mom, as the sessions last a half day at home or another special place to mama and child.

Victoria says, My inspiration for the book are the journals that my mother put together of my siblings and I. They’re your classic sticky paper 80s photo album with photographs of our childhood and little love letters that she wrote to us. I love the experience of going through my journal and reading her letters and seeing photographs. I want to help create the same experience for mothers and their children.

We really, realllly love the thinking of how each mom’s children will be able to flip through the book and read quotes from their mother when they get older. All the feels.
