The family is second generation farmers of all the nut and fruit trees in the Central Valley.

Last time we caught up with mama Isobel, she was here on Cakelet sharing her pretty floral pregnancy announcement for baby no. 3. Fast forward two years and this formerly San Diego fam now calls New Zealand home, not to mention, they are celebrating the arrival of their 4^th and final addition! So Isobel and crew hooked up with Kate Little Photography at Jonkers Farm in Auckland for a family maternity shoot that commemorates their journey and new chapter to come—all surrounded by the expansive beauty that is NZ.

It’s a rainy winter over at the new family HQ, so they had to wait for a break in the clouds to capture their family maternity shoot outdoors.

Isobel explains, We spend most of our days outdoors exploring with the boys, so I knew I wanted a “scene” that truly represented us and our home here in New Zealand. The landscape here is so unique that we wanted to shoot somewhere that showcased its beauty. 

We did the shoot on a 540 acre working farm, Jonkers Farm, here in Auckland, New Zealand, with a 360 degree view of both the west and east coasts! The rolling hills on the property back directly up to Auckland’s famous west coach beaches and from the very top of the property you can see Auckland city and the Sky Tower—it was such a magical place to be. The farm is a popular wedding venue and is often used as film location for both international and local movies and commercials (Lorde had just finished shooting her latest music video in those same woods) so we felt really lucky to get the opportunity to shoot there.

Morning, friends! Aren’t mama Jen of Honey Lake Studio and her sweet fam stunning in their deep, earthy hues? Looking back on their family maternity session, these photos Lindsay of The Wonder Road sent over are extra special to them as just over a week before giving birth, they all left home in search of safety from the hurricane approaching Florida last fall.

Jen says, A few weeks after shooting these, our state was faced with a category 5 hurricane, targeted directly at our city. We evacuated the state (pets too!), and drove two days with the rest of the state’s residents. It took so long because the main roads out were full. Hotels were also full, so we rested in a parking lot—full parking lot, of course. Not something anyone wants to encounter 10 days prior to delivering. The storm passed in time, and thankfully, our home was just as we left it with no damage! We got home the night before my scheduled pre-op the very next morning. It is so funny to me how these photos were the perfect representation of what the last month of pregnancy would hold for us.

Breathtaking shots here, yes? Love how after those stressful last days, they can all look back on how strong they were together.

And perfect dress for wading into the waves with baby.
