Lavender field maternity photos
This lavender field maternity shoot, which is beyond lovely, BTW, comes to us all the way from the town of Mulmur, Ontario, Canada by way of the talented Emily Jean Photography. Emily and this beautiful mama, Brooke, chose this little locale to evoke the feeling of running through the lavender fields in France. So dreamy, right?
Definitely feeling the French romance over here! We can almost smell the lavender.
Emily’s story… Looking through old photographs of my mother, I realized there was only one photo of her when she was pregnant with me. It was shot on a disposable film camera, the flash at full force documenting her sideways against a wall to show how big her belly was. Today, I gave my mom a call and told her I was shooting a maternity session, and she just went on and on about how she wishes she had the opportunity to have all of her pregnancies documented in such a beautiful and special way like they are today. Although I am a digital photographer, I spent that evening very inspired by film photography. I decided to give myself a challenge and pretend as though my digital camera was a film camera. I would only give myself “5 rolls of 12 exposure film.” Every image was shot with intention, and it was a great challenge to try to shoot that way.
So joyful and loving and carefree. See more in our gallery!
Congratulations to Brooke!
