DIY planet cookie idea | 100 Layer Cakelet

 Supplies: 
1. Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers
2. White chocolate
3. Resealable sandwich bag
4. Paintbrush
5. Sanding sugars + sprinkles

Jodie’s older son, Sammy, loved planets and when he turned four, had an outer space themed party. More recently their whole family was obsessed with the Cosmos series so their love of the celestial remains and she happily continues to be on the lookout for planet-themed crafts and treats. Once she was piping frosting onto a cookie and accidentally went past the edges and realized that it could look like Saturn with it’s ring. (Don’t you love when those type of accidents happen?)

“I love transforming common supermarket items and Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers are one of my favorites—because they’re yummy but also because they are great blank slates for crafting! I thought they’d work well for the planet cookie idea. I decided to try white chocolate instead of using royal icing which I thought might be yummier and would allow for some dimension.

The white chocolate can be brushed on, piped (from a resealable sandwich bag, you don’t need a piping bag!), or dipped (as on the crescent moon cookie). Sanding sugars and sprinkles are an easy way to add color”.

We mean… easy and super cute, right? Our favorite kind of DIY! And they’d be the perfect little sugary sweet to snack on at a space picnic, like the one Jillian planned for little Liam!

These are so gorgeous! I've never tried frosting with white chocolate or frosting in opaque streaks before, but maybe I'll think twice next time with something such as these! -E
