Family trip to NYC with the Ergobaby 360 carrier

Categories   Family Travel, sponsored post

Junia, our copy editor, recently took her first family trip to NYC with her then 9-month-old daughter, Xiomara. She was a little nervous about how the 6-hour flight would go and knew she didn’t want to have to worry about lugging around a heavy stroller. Thankfully the new Ergobaby Four Position 360 Carrier had just been released, so she and her husband took it for a spin. Here’s how their trip went…

Hi everyone! First off, I’m happy to report that traveling with our 9-month-old was not as stressful as I thought it would be. I read every tip online, asked a few well traveled mamas for advice, learned a few things about packing, booking airbnb‘s with enough space for a crawler, and walked away feeling like, “Yes, we could totally do this trip again!”.

We’ve used Ergobaby’s original baby carrier since Xiomara was about 3 months, so the transition to the 360 was a smooth one. After I felt how supportive the extra wide velcro waistband on the 360 felt on my semi-weak lower back, I knew we could leave the stroller behind and wear her throughout the city.

Not sure if other mamas have experienced this, but she was getting to the point where she would push away, pull her arms out and try anything she could to try and get a better view of what I was seeing. So to know that we had the option to face her outward in the four position 360 baby carrier, felt pretty awesome.

She experienced Brooklyn’s weekly Smorgasburg. This alone was kind of enough to make us want to move there, really. The food vendors + the view were amazing.

It made going to the Museum of Natural History extra fun (despite that wary look on her face).

My husband loved narrating everything they were seeing together while he wore her.

And not having to worry about carrying a heavy stroller, especially inside all those cute (and tight) NYC shops was the best. The extra padding around her little thighs added the perfect amount of support so she could go long stretches of time being carried. It also made napping in the carrier super comfy, and teething on my Chewbeads necklace really convenient for her.

She was such a trooper during the entire trip.

We seriously had a blast, especially because we knew she was having such a good time. When it was time to nap we’d face her inward and continue to explore the city. When she wanted to experience our view, we’d turn her outward and she’d pump her legs in excitement. When it got windy, we unbuttoned the sleeping hood flap to keep her neck and head warm. Yeah, we kinda fell in love with it.

The four position 360 baby carrier is such a great addition to Ergobaby’s already amazing family of carriers. If you see one on someone’s baby registry, you’ll probably become their favorite if you’re the one that gifts it to them. Honestly. We’ve been back from our trip a little while now and use ours daily!

Have any questions about our trip or my experience using the carrier? Please feel free to ask!

xx,
Junia + Xiomara
