Camping birthday party for Jaxon
If there’s one memory from childhood, and adulthood really, that is always worth revisiting, it’s camping. Are we right? The feeling of zipping yourself into your sleeping bag at the end of a day full of adventuring, hiking, and collecting sticks. Not to mention the scary stories, the hot cocoa, s’mores, and getting home to unpack a weekend’s worth of clothes that still smell of campfire. It’s the best. And, as a birthday party theme, it’s a total win. Laura Coggins of Little Frills brought all of that joy to her son’s 4th birthday camp out with the best details. Check it out!
You can order these invitations + envelopes (love those liners!) from Little Frills’ paper + goods shop.
That cute banner is going to be available in her shop soon too, so keep an eye out for that!
Laura made those felt badges during a late night party prep sesh. “The tiny felt badges were a must! I didn’t intend for them to be a actual part of the party but quickly realized that it made a great reward system for the kids. One ‘tree’ badge for eating all their dinner in the forest. One ‘marshmellow mountain’ badge for roasting a marshmallow for making s’mores by the campfire outside. And one ‘tent’ badge for pitching their own little pup tent.”
What camp out isn’t complete without s’mores?
After everyone earned their badges they pitched their tents, and oh so adorably watched the movie, Planes.
See the little lanterns hanging on each of their tents? Those were DIY’d by Laura’s mother-in-law! She used plastic jars, placed a flickering tealight inside, and added a ziptie handle.
We can’t think of a cooler way to celebrate a 4th birthday party!

How did you make the tents?

What an adorable party! Your tents look a little smaller than those in the linked tutorial. Did you reduce the measurements? If so, any chance you remember by how much? Thanks!
