Modern mocktails with Mrs. Lilien
There are so many great things about pregnancy. But then there are also some bummers too. Hello, abstaining (mostly) from booze for 9+ months! Women have all the hard jobs.
Lucky for us, the queen of cocktails, Mrs. Lilien, happens to be with child at the moment, so we asked her to pop by with some inventive “mocktail” recipes to take the edge off during those long, but miraculous months. Farra from The Hostess Haven lent her expert hand at crafting delicious mixtures and the ladies of JoieLaLa captured each drink in a perfectly juicy fashion.
The Mrs. Margie Spritzer
Sugar the the rim of your glass with coconut sugar. Place a large ice cube in a short glass. Muddle a blood orange slice in a cocktail shaker then fill with your favorite margarita mix (or make your own) and some smaller ice cubes. Shake to mix, then pour into your glass, leaving an inch to top off with Wild Poppy grapefruit ginger soda. garnish with a slice of blood orange and have a moment with your favorite chips and salsa.
The Mrs. Mary with Carrot Jucie
First, make Hostess Haven bloody mary mix sans vodka (obvs) and pour 8 oz. into cocktail shaker over ice. Add a heavy splash of fresh pressed carrot juice (Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s or any juice bar – even Jamba Juice – can provide this if you don’t have a juicer), shake to mix and pour in your salted rim glass garnished with lime, carrot and celery. Make for brunch or breakfast with a slice of toast topped with smashed avocados and a pinch of salt.
The Señora Colada
Pour equal parts pure pineapple juice and coconut juice into a blender with ice and a splash of coconut milk. Blend until frosty and thicker (add more ice or more juice to suit your tastes). Pour into a snifter or a large bowl-shaped glass and garnish with a sliver of mango, a chunk of piña and a single blackberry.
Yum yum, right?
We have 2 more delicious recipes and a few of Mrs. Lilien‘s picks for baby coming up next week too. You can try out these first three drinky-drinks in the meantime.

Where could we find the glass platter with gold edges? Looked on Hostess Haven, but don't see it? It's gorgeous. Thank you in advance!

Ooooh...that Mrs. Margie Spritzer looks so good! I've only three weeks left in my pregnancy; I could have used this nine months ago!

Mrs Lilien, You look stunning in these pictures, and pregnancy obviously agrees with you. You haven't aged a bit! Hoping you are well. Cheers! Jen
