A favorite things 2nd birthday party for Storey

Categories   Kids Birthday Parties

Kay, get your Pin It button ready, mamas. This 2nd birthday from Ashley Nicole Events, for Ashley’s daughter Storey, is definitely one for the inspiration folder! It’s a “favorite things” themed party and not to spoil anything, but let’s see… tissue tassel balloons (a la Geronimo), ombre layer cake, a PONY. She went all out!

Ashley made the tasseled balloons herself. Love the little vintage-style kids chairs with the sequin table cloths.

The gorgeous layer cake lists all her favorite things in white. How clever is that!

Ashley found the wood spheres used for the floral arrangements at West Elm and painted them blue to go with her theme.

Um, here’s the pony. Actually there were two of them! One for riding and one for braiding/decorating his mane.

Epic, right!? It’s rough having an event designer for a mom.

Ashley’s skirt is from Anthropologie, her heart sweater is from Forever 21, her shoes are Sam Edelman from Nordstrom. Storey’s dress is from Nordstrom.

This is beyond cute!!!! I love that the old drink cart is a candy station. I also love that there were 2 cute little ponys and the fact the birthday girl was all dressed up. :) Makes me want to turn 2! http://happinessiscreating.com/

Could there be a better birthday party?! Too many things to love about this...that cake is just beautiful! And those tassel balloons! :]

I want to be 2 again (especially if I get a great party like the one pictured above). Everything looked amazing from the invites to the napkins. I can't forget that gorgeous cake! The big smile at the end is priceless!

I'm new to you and love your charming details! What a great day!! Congratulations but the pony is really what caught my attention -- I salute you for bringing a pony into your apartment. I've never met another as close to myself! We did this, too, for your daughter's 5th birthday!!! It felt impossible and magical but, was truly a memory of memories both for our daughter and her friends --wishing you continued happy wish making!! I look forward to returning!

Absolutely love every girly detail of this party!

This is pretty!

yes, this party is stunning. but I wish you would feature more realistic and budget friendly parties. everything you share is so lavish and looks really unaffordable. my kids would LOVE a party like this and most moms can't afford all this. how about some DIY parties and keep it under $100 or heck, $300 events?

Johanna on Apr 7, 2013

What about her bracelet? Sooo cute

Olivia on Apr 8, 2013

I have the same thought as Ashlyn. This party is certainly beautiful (and I'm sure it was great fun), but it looks like it took as much time to plan as a wedding (and cost about the same). The thing I love most about blogs is that they showcase and celebrate ideas that are inventive, creative, different, and personal vs. the "you need an entire team and connections and money to pull this off" type of ideas that you see in magazines. Would love more of the good 'ol DIY, not-every-detail-has-to-be-perfect shindigs that are also beautiful, special and great fun. Thanks! : )

Does nobody else think this is, um, slightly over the top for a toddler.or indeed or anyone?!

Love this party, and getting ideas on how to modify for a little boy's birthday! Did I miss where you can get the HUGE balloons?!

Ashley on Apr 10, 2013

I'm with Laura. While the pics are beautiful and there are some great ideas for adult events, the entire story I was like, "Um, what is the point of all this for a 2 year old? And are these types of parties really for the 2 year old or for the pretentious "look what we did" parents?"

100layercake on Apr 11, 2013

Thanks for your comments everyone! While we love an over-the-top celebration too, we totally agree that these parties aren't realistic for most people (or for us!). When we show these we hope that moms who aren't event designers can at least get inspiration for parties they plan themselves. But that being said, we'll definitely work on showing more down-home, DIY parties too. Those are some of our faves. @Katie - You can find the huge balloons at http://www.shopsweetlulu.com
