Brooks’ neutral California-inspired nursery
Hi mamas! Amanda here, popping in with some photos of my son’s nursery that is finalllly done! When I was 3 months pregnant, we started a home renovation that was supposed to be over when I was 7 months pregnant, and it finally ended when our son was 4 months old! Why is it that when you’re getting ready to have a baby you start giant projects? I guess it’s the nesting instinct perhaps. On steroids!
So, back to the nursery. I started collecting pieces for it when I was pregnant, and we stored them in the garage until the floodgates were open to start designing the space. I had such fun dreaming up what we would fill in his room. Visions of neutral tones, a calming California vibe, artful shapes and textures filled my head. Take a peek at the tour below, shot by the talented Heather Kincaid…
One of our first purchases was this Kalon Caravan Crib, a piece I’ve had my eyes on since my babe was a mere dream of ours. Maple wood, clean lines and a simple yet beautiful design. I love every inch of it!
Nicole Neu, of Niknik, created this wall hanging for us, and it’s definitely the focal point of the room. I met Nicole at a Parachute Home event and fell in love with her work with wood and natural materials. Then we worked together to pick out the most perfect shade of apricot fiber for the bottom. It makes me so happy when I enter the room!
A books-as-art wall! Every nursery needs one right? These book ledges matched our crib and are at IKEA for a mere $17 each! And my husband made the toy bench, inspired by Louella’s nursery bench.
The little sparkly shapes that catch the light in the corner of the room is the Luce mobile made by Electric Sun Creatives. Brooks loves to stare at these as they sway around. Our glider is the Milo from Crate and Kids.
Little B spends a lot of his time playing down on his quilt, by Caroline Z Hurley. I’ve loved her textiles for years.. the simplicity, colors and patterns speak to my heart! She also made the pillow on the glider.
We spend a fair amount of time right here.. the Oeuf changing table/dresser. It’s been the workhorse of our nursery, holding everything we need. I swear I’ve opened the drawers 3,000 times and they still work as perfectly as they day we got it.
I’m not a photographer or anything, but I managed to snap the ocean print above his dresser on our babymoon in Hawaii, and the surf photo down at the beach by our house a week before Brooks was conceived. We had Simply Framed print and frame these, and they’re such a meaningful addition to his room.
And onto a few portraits of our family! I look at this photo of our boy and I still can’t believe I have a son. He’s the joy of our lives! I love how Heather captured us in our home.
OUR GUY!
Thanks for reading along! This nursery has been such a dream come true to design for our little Brooks!
