Morning, friends! This “moon and stars” baby shower coming to us from Kristin of By Emily B. in honor of one of their very own team members, Katherine, is out of this world amaze (no pun intended, swear it). It’s so spectacularly thoughtful and FULL of detail, and comes complete with an incredible story about the mama-to-be and her guy Jamison, who call St. John in the Virgin Islands home. What a sweet setting to celebrate a forthcoming bebe! And The Livery in New Hampshire is a perfect match.

Kristin tells us, Katherine of Katherine Stuart Design is both a jewelry artist and a member of the By Emily B. design team. She lives on St. John in the Virgin Islands, which was devastated by Hurricane Irma on September 6. Luckily, she was here staying with me at the time, but her boyfriend, Jamison, the captain and owner of Kekoa, a beloved catamaran that offers Caribbean charters in the USVI and BVI, was on the island securing the boat before the storm. After the storm, we waited nervously for a full 36 hours before hearing word that he and his brother had made it through the hurricane.

Unfortunately, the boat, which they built and is their livelihood, had not fared as well. It was pretty badly damaged, along with almost all boats anchored in Hurricane Hole on St. John. When they found her, she had been pushed up onto the shore among the mangroves with a 12 foot hole in the port side hull. Just 12 days later, as we got news that Hurricane Maria was now hurtling toward the island, to batter them once more, we also found out Katherine was pregnant. On our last call with Jamison before Hurricane Maria descended, Katherine tearfully told him that they were expecting.

Fast forward 8.5 months, Jamison and Katherine have been living together back on St. John, a community that is healing in magical ways post-hurricane. It is just as beautiful as ever. Jamison is making slow and steady repairs to Kekoa and watching Katherine’s belly grow. A week ago, she returned with me to her home state of New Hampshire to sit tight and wait for baby Coco to arrive. This gave us (her family and By Emily B. besties) the perfect opportunity to throw her a baby shower!

The team landed on the moon and stars theme, and brought it to life with lavender, pink, and metallic hues.

Guests got to choose their own small polished moonstone in a star-embellished bag, with the meaning behind moonstones: A moonstone is the Gem of the High Priestess and ultimate Divine Feminine energy crystal. Moonstone activates your intuition and excitement for new beginnings as it promotes growth and empowering strength through love from within. It lends inspiration and confidence for all fresh endeavors to attract good fortune and success.

The stationery suite by Lulu & Roo Design featured a soft silver shimmer paper, lavender shimmer envelopes with rose gold calligraphy and quotes like, “stay wild moon child,” “like a diamond in the sky” and “you are my sun, my moon, and all my stars.” We enlarged all of those quotes, framed them, and displayed them around the shower venue.

Utterly obsessed with this big, beautiful crescent moon chair, where they had the mama open gifts.

Autumn Nomad was behind all the matching desserts, including hand-painted shooting star cheesecake tarts, brushed-gold brownies, and chocolate-dipped star cookies.
