Modern family home in Manhattan Beach
We sooo adore sharing nurseries + kids’ rooms here on the blog. But sometimes we gotta wonder about the rest of the spaces that families grow and gather in within too. Naturally when we got the chance to check out interior designer Ashley of Ausland Interior‘s modern family home as captured by Marisa Vitale—including all the kiddo spaces (of course!!)—we were like, uh huh!

Ashley and fam redid their entire home on a tight budget, and as a result it’s filled to the brim with vintage treasures and estate sale finds. The crib itself was a vintage garage sale find for $35!
Love this little collection of vintage children’s books, too.
Ashley says, The kitchen and the bathroom were full gut jobs. The original kitchen was literally a 5’ walkway. We removed the wall, and now its one big hang out room. We refinished the parquet floors to a darker brown, and actually had the kitchen floors custom made to match the original floors to make the space flow and feel larger (no one understood why I kept the floors, but once they saw them finished they realized parquet floors aren’t as bad as everyone thinks!). I sourced the bathroom tiles from Lowes and Home Depot, and the marble counter was a free remnant piece. We really saved in every way we could, without sacrificing the visual aesthetic.
Almost all of the unique artwork throughout their beachy abode was sourced via flea markets + estate sales.
With three littles under the age of four in 1100 square feet, Ashley made the most of every inch.
The aforementioned kitchen space is pretty gorg, huh?
